Shift of emphasis towards original ways of life and love, from the Wilderness Era to the Settlement Era

The purpose of this page is to indicate that there is a very strong and clear correspondence between the contents of the Principle of Creation and Cheon Seong Gyeong. I think that’s because the Holy Books are the materials that were promised us in the final paragraph of the Introduction of the Divine Principle. There, in the first English-language publications of 1973 (as well as in the later Exposition of the Divine Principle, printed in 1996 and reprinted 1998 and 2006), it’s written:

The words proclaimed on these pages are only a portion of this truth. This volume is merely a compilation of what his disciples have hitherto heard and seen. We believe and hope that when the time is ripe, more profound portions of the truth will be published .

• Exposition of the Divine Principle, Introduction, p. 12

In the Divine Principle, the Principle of Creation gives 37 pages (out of 430 in the book) to explaining original ways of life and love. But Cheon Seong Gyeong gives most of its 2000 pages to explaining original ways of life and love:

And if you pay attention to the dates of the passages, it’s apparent that Father and Mother Moon spoke increasingly about Principle of Creation topics as they brought us up to and into the post-Foundation Day, Cheon Il Guk Settlement Era.  That’s because they knew we needed more understanding to complete our responsibility, which is to actually build the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth on the foundations they had prepared.

Section 1 of the Principle, expanded

In the Principle of Creation, God is explained in Section 1, which is 6 pages long. In Cheon Seong Gyeong, God is given 114 pages.

Section 2 of the Principle, expanded

In the Principle of Creation, the ideal of the original family is explained in Section 2.3.3, which is 6 pages long. Because the center of an original Four-Position Foundation is original, unfallen, true parents, there is a correspondence to Book 2. There is also a correspondence to Book 3, because the Divine Principle reads: …the four position foundation is the vessel of perfect beauty through which we can receive and enjoy the fullness of God’s love. (Exposition of the Divine Principle, p. 39). In Cheon Seong, the equivalent book is given 100 pages.

Section 3 of the Principle, expanded

In the Principle of Creation, the Three Blessings are explained in Section 3, which is four pages long; and each blessing gets one paragraph, except for the 3rd one which is a bit longer.

In Cheon Seong Gyeong, the Three Blessings are given about 100 pages each.

Section 4 of the Principle, expanded

In the Principle of Creation, Love is explained in Section 4.3.1 (Love and Beauty, pp. 38–39), which is one and a half pages long. In Cheon Seong Gyeong, the book about True Love is 100 pages.

Section 5 of the Principle, expanded

In the Principle of Creation, spiritual growth is explained in Section 5.2, which is a little over four pages long. In Cheon Seong Gyeong, spiritual growth—i.e., Life of Faith and Training—is given 120 pages.

Section 6 of the Principle, expanded

In the Principle of Creation, the incorporeal world is explained in Section 6, which is six pages long. In Cheon Seong Gyeong, Earthly Life and the Spirit World is given 116 pages.

This comparison is only about obvious correspondences up to Book 8 in Cheon Seong Gyeong. But when Books 9–13 are studied, it is clear that the whole volume is largely concerned with educating us in original ways of  life and love.

Put another way, in the Divine Principle, original ways of life and love are about 12% of the book; whereas in Cheon Seong Gyeong  those original ways are the core of what those 2000 pages are about. That would explain why Omonim said in 2013:

Actually teaching Divine Principle is not enough now. We need to teach them Father’s words. They need to do Hoon Dok. Don’t you think so? Divine Principle was revealed in the 1960’s. After that, we need to study Father’s words , don’t we? We need to publish (Chambumo Gyeong: Teaching of True Parents), and together with Peace Messages and Cheon Seong Gyeong, we need to educate them .

• Omonim on Parents’ Day, May 8, 2013

So we must grasp what the Divine Principle really wants us to understand: the Three Hearts of God and the Advent of True Parents in the 1960s. But then we must learn and put into actual practice the promised knowledge that’s come afterward, which is aimed at the post-Foundation Day, Cheon Il Guk, Settlement Era.
